Update from Lawrence

Hi Everyone,

It sounds like all the sites are doing really well. Just thought you would like to know what was going on in Lawrence.

We had our second diagnostic on Tuesday and it was a huge success. Well, attendance wise it was a success. We had 49 students show up! We took the test from the big blue book, and half our students didn't bring the books. So while they were doing the essay, we frantically photocopied the test and handed them out by the time they got to section 2.
We also had a little trouble grading the tests. We used the mid point converter that Jess sent us and it worked wonderfully for the math and critical reading sections. The writing section was a little more complicated since the first diagnostic was graded with two essay scores, but the blue book only allowed for one essay score. So what we did was have two people grade each essay and average the two scores. Hopefully that was a relatively accurate method of scoring the writing section.
