How Long Should LGR Classes Be?
Most programs this summer are holding 3 hour classes and only a couple are holding 2.5 hour classes. Two years ago, the reverse was the case. Next summer, should the LGR office encourage sites to run 3 hour sessions or 2.5 hour sessions? I'm interested to know what everyone thinks. Also, should the sessions include a break or no break?

In my experience as an LGR coach, all my class sessions have been 3 hours long. This has been both good and bad. When only 3 or 4 students show up to class, 3 hours (even with a break) can seem unbearably long, as the students don’t have much opportunity to interact with each other, and games and check-ins are short. During the school year especially, I feel that the students can really only absorb only 2 hours of solid teaching. However, if 6 or 7 students are in a class, 3 hours is the perfect amount of time to have 2 hours of solid teaching, a fun vocab game, and time to chat and check in, which encourages them to continue attending the program.
I think that a break is universally a good thing, as it gives both the students and the coaches time to relax and take a mental break. Also, it gives everyone an opportunity to mingle and see the program as a greater cohesive whole, and not just fractured small classes.
